Biking for Black Babies Ambassadors are self designated community midwives, representing the county and state in which they serve. Ambassadors are experts in their community and contribute invaluable perspectives that necessitate barriers and access to care, community needs, and culturally congruent care. Ambassadors spend countless hours working to improve perinatal outcomes and should be considered an integral asset and indispensable community health workers and advocates.
As such, we are intentionally creating a pathway of least resistance to provide opportunities for community midwives who desire to engage with their local representatives. Ambassadors are supported by local campaigners who's primary focus is to ensure the Ambassador continues their grassroots work while supporting and implementing the Ambassadors vision and goals to present to local representatives. Placing value and respect on the Ambassadors time increases their ability to flex their superpower on political platforms in a manner that is best suited for their community.
Ambassadors are not elected. In fact, Ambassadors decide if they want to participate or not. There is no limit to the number of Ambassadors per state or county. In fact, we want to encourage as many Ambassadors to participate as possible in their state. This is the most time efficient way to share and collaborate ideas to improve local policies. We fully recognize some states are working on specific initiatives and we would love to help elevate those voices as well. Again, we have one mission...CLOSE THE GAP AND SAVE BLACK BABIES.
