On October 11, 2024 I will begin my journey across the south eastern states. While this may sound adventurous, this is a cycling tour with profound intention and purpose. A solo ride for the soul with a goal to infiltrate community health systems buy brining forward tangible community awareness and education to address the Black Infant Mortality. As I make my journey from North Carolina to Louisiana I implore legislators to engage and meet with Black community midwives and myself to discuss strategic measures to improve Black Infant Mortality outcomes. My journey will span over three full weeks (Oct 9 - Oct 31) 1000 miles and five states!
1. Alabama
2. Florida
3. Georgia
4. Mississippi
5. Louisiana
6. North Carolina
7. South Carolina
Additionally, I recognize that each state has unique barriers, not only within the communities themselves but the midwives that serve them. As such, I plan to fundraise and donate to each state we travel through while spreading awareness and creating deliberate connections. These funds will be dedicated to the midwives for each state we ride through. We fully discern "we" do not know the needs for community midwives in our travel through states nor will we make assumptions. Therefore, depositing funds into the hands that serve...is what we have committed too. Fundraising will be be open, closed, and maintained by the community midwives not Womb Cycle. We ask for everyone to follow our lead in creating a pathway of financial support and facilitate life long change.
Every family that has experienced a loss has a story to tell, a bent heart, and a memory to be honored. It is my life long commitment to "close the gap" and honor our families.
